Boxing champ Nonito Donaire and Billiard idol Dennis Orcollo are chosen to be the Athletes of the Year of Philippine Sportswriters’ Association of 2011.
The annual awarding will take place in March and sports editors and writers from well known publications team up to give Donaire and Orcollo the greatest tribute.
PSA’s basis in choosing The Filipino Flash is his second round knockout win against former WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel while Orcollo became well known in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates for defeating Niel Feijen of the Netherlands to get the World 8-ball Championship title.
This is Donaire and Orcollo’s second time in the Athlete of the Year awards after they were awarded in 2007 including swimmer Miguel Molina, bowler Biboy Rivera, pool wizard Francisco Bustamante and boxer Rey Saludar.
