Although there’s no doubt American Idol finalist Jessica Sanchez is one of the breakout stars of American Idol Season 11, one of the biggest names in the American music industry who supports the 16 year old high school student wants her to be voted off in the series.
According to a report, RnB singer and record producer Akon stated that he wants Jessica to be voted off in the Idol series.
Akon, who was also a guest mentor in American Idol, explained immediately that he wants Jessica to be eliminated in the contest because he wants her to work with him in the future.
During the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami, Akon stated that Sanchez is overqualified for American Idol.
According to the RnB singer, he has been with a lot of great artists, but he haven’t met a singer like Sanchez, a 16 year old with a talent that matches diva stars like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.
“I know I shouldn’t be saying this, but I kind of want her to get voted off so I can sign her,” said Akon. “She’s beyond the talent that’s supposed to be there. I think she’s overqualified, I really do.”
“And she’s only 16,” the singer added “Like, I’ve been around a lot of superstars. I haven’t seen anyone at that age sing like that.”
Earlier, the RnB artist said that Jessica will be a legend because of her great talent during the time he guested as a mentor in American Idol.
