China Cancels Friendly Match vs. Philippine Azkals, to Play vs. Guam on Independence Day

The Philippine Azkals will face Guam in a friendly match which will be held in Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City on June 12, Independence Day.

But according to reports, the Philippine football team were going to play against China at first.  However, the said game was cancelled by China.

“They never confirmed,” Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta said in a report.

In the meantime, The Philippines and China are currently dealing in an issue over Scarborough Shoal, leading to a bigger tension between the two countries. However, Araneta stated that the standoff has nothing to do with the postponement of the football game.

Before the goodwill match with Guam, the PFF has also set a friendly match versus Indonesia for the Azkals on June 5 to take place at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
