Labor Day in Manila was Peaceful – PNP

Despite of the rain, protesters still continued their program and protest in the streets of Mendiola on Labor Day.

Reports said that more than 20,000 workers gathered together to express their distress at the Don Chino Roces or Mendiola Bridge.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) permitted the workers to do their program with a condition not to make chaos and not to vandalize the place.

However, it was said that a student was beaten by some protesters for being suspected as a spy to their group.

According to a report, PNP concluded that the May 1 tribute was totally peaceful due to there are no big incidents or fiascos occurred, except from isolated cases such as traffic and theft. The situation is also peaceful on the job fair at World Trade Center in Pasay City.

For around 5p.m.protesters are slowly leaving the place and the streets are immediately opened.
