The latest marriage in the ranks of the Senators of the country ending up in a separation is that of Sen. Koko Pimentel and wife Jewel May Lobaton.
Sen. Pimentel opened up himself in several media interviews that since November of last year, he and his wife are already separated. But as to the reason behind the separation, Sen. Pimentel just said that they would want to better leave the matter in private, though he said that it seems that there are marriages just won’t work out.
But rumors immediately circulated that a lawmaker from Bacolod is the reason behind the separation of the couple.
According to rumors, Bacolod Lone District Representative Anthony Golez is the cause of the separation. He however vehemently denied any truth to the rumor. He said in a text message sent to local media outfits,
“I categorically deny having anything to do with the breakup of a relationship.”
“Let’s pray for them and wish the very best as they go on their separate ways.”
Lobaton and Golez had worked closely in several projects and advocacies in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
Sen. Pimentel and former beauty queen Jewel May Lobaton were married for almost 12 years with 2 kids.
The senator, despite the pain of this phase in his life journey said that he and his wife are in good terms for the welfare of their kids. He also asked for the prayers of his friends and supporters.
Jewel May Lobaton is expected to run in the 2013 elections as a party-list representative.
Aside from Sen. Pimentel, Sen. Chiz Escudero has also separated from his wife a couple of months ago.
Will this signal the passing of divorce bill in the country the Filipino-style as shared by Sen. Pimentel after his marriage was not worked out?
