UFC champ Jon “Bones” Jones was arrested last Saturday by authorities on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
According to reports, Jones was arrested by authorities in Binghamton, New York around 5 in the morning. The MMA fighter crashed his Bentley into a pole that made the authorities held him.
Jones is now under the care of the Broome Country Sheriff, but was also soon released after posting bail. He was said to have suffered minor injuries.
The official representative of Jones afterward issued a statement.
“I can confirm that Jon Jones was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI. While the facts of this situation are still being gathered and situated, First Round Management fully supports Jon.
We are asking for fans and mdeia to respect the privacy of Jon and his family during this time.”
Jones is one of the most promising UFC champion today. He came off of a most recent win against Rashad Evans at UFC 145 with which the two traded harsh words before the fight.
He is scheduled to fight and defend his crown against Dan Henderson on September 1 in Las Vegas for the UFC 151.
