The Philippine National Football Team or more popularly known as the Philippine Azkals will continue their preparation as they will once again face another football team for a friendly match.
The Azkals are facing Guam on June 12, 2012 for a friendly game. It will be held at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Last May 1, the Azkals faced Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, while days ago, they faced rival Indonesia which ended in a 2-2 draw score line; with some physicalities between rival players ensuing at the latter part of the match.
It was also reported that some Indonesian fans uttered racist remarks against the Azkals during the game. These fans questioned the nationality of some Fil-foreign players. But afterwards, the fans apologized on Twitter saying that they were just carried by their emotions during the game.
The Azkals would have played against Hong Kong on June 8 in Bacolod, but the Chinese team canceled their availability for the match. Some writers and sports observers say that the cancellation may have come from the tension between the Philippines and China in relation to territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea.
The Azkals vs Indonesia game was labeled as the “Independence Day Cup”.
Game will be aired live from Bacolod by Studio 23.
