The man who won the fight is now the one who is getting so frustrated at the indifference given to him and his feat.
Undefeated American boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. said in an interview with a boxing website that he is frustrated that he is not being given due credit despite winning against Manny Pacquiao last June 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He added, that he remains undefeated with four world titles under his name.
He admitted,
“It’s just that I have come a long way, and never got any credit. Still today, I don’t get credit.
I’m a four-time world champion and I still haven’t gotten any credit.”
Timothy Bradley won against Pacquiao via split decision in the WBO welterweight championship. The fight result was mired in controversy as boxing scribes, experts, fans and patrons all saw Pacquiao winning the bout by a wide margin. Online polls and survey by media companies also put Pacquiao with a win.
After the fight, Bradley was brought to the post-fight conference in a wheel chair.
Top Rank’s Bob Arum called for an investigation of the result with some senators also calling for a probe and the creation of a federal boxing commission.
The WBO on the other hand said Pacquiao undoubtedly won the fight in the review it made. It will be ordering a rematch as the only thing that I can do.
Bradley said that he is already “sick” not being given respect and credit as a boxer.
Bradley said he was “sick” of not being given credit for his achievements as a boxer.
“I just want to fight the best fights out there for me and my family and the fans out there. I want to give them the best fights. I don’t really care about the record books.
I’m the freaking welterweight champion of the world, and people feel like I don’t deserve it. It is sad, man. I worked my (expletive) off to win that fight.
I am at the point where I am losing my love for boxing.”
Bradley is eager to fight Pacquiao in a rematch on November. On the other hand, Pacquiao initially said if ever there will be rematch, he will not let the result come from the judges as he will really put Bradley to sleep.
Well, Bradley cannot blame the people if he is not given credit, coz he truly did not deserve to get the win. He may have the title, but he does not have the respect of the boxing world. Blame the judges.
