Filipino Athletes call for Support and Prayers for the London Olympic Games

Filipino athletes who will be joining the 2012 London Olympic Games call for prayers and support as a ceremonial send-off took place at the Blue Leaf in McKinley Hills Village last Monday night.

The athletes who will joim the London Olympics are long jumper Marestella Torres, boxer Mark Barriga, swimmers Jasmine Alkhaldi and Jessie Khing Lacuna, shooter Brian Rosario, track and field athlete Rene Herrera, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, BMX rider Daniel Caluag, judoka Tomohiko Hoshina, and archers Mark Javier and Rachel Cabral.

According to our athletes, they need moral support and prayers from our fellow countrymen to motivate and strengthen them to get high ranks in the competition.

“Sana sa mga Pilipino, subaybayan niyo po kami sa London at sana ipagdasal niyo po kami,” said Herrera in an interview.

The first batch who will be going to London on Sunday are Diaz, Torres, Herrera, Alkhaldi, Lacuña, Rosario and Barriga.
