Manny Pacquiao Not Included in ESPN’s Best Fighter Award Nominees

Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao failed to make it to the prestigious “Best Fighter Award” list of nominees of sports channel network ESPN, reports say.

After his controversial loss to WBO welterweight champon Timothy Bradley, ESPN announced that the candidates for the best fighter award include American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., 2011 Fighter of the Year Andre Ward, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

The Filipino boxing champion was included in the said awards during 2009-2011.

ESPN’s “Best Fighter Award” goes to professional and amateur boxers and mixed martial arts fighters which are recognized as the best in their field.

Andre Ward was awarded as 2011 Fighter of the Year after his win against Carl Frosh to get the Super Six super-middleweight tournament, while a lot of people admired Mayweather’s comeback fight versus Miguel Cotto and Victor Ortiz.

ESPN will announce the winners in July 11, 2012.
