Kapamilya stars Paulo Avelino and Maja Salvador were awarded as the Best Actor and Actress during the 35th Gawad Urian awards which took place Wednesday night at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo.
Paulo won for his role in the indie film “Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” while Maja won for her act in Paul Soriano’s “Thelma.”
“Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa”, which is a 2011 Cinemalaya entry, bagged seven awards such as Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Music titles.
Kapuso actress Jean Garcia, who won Best Actress trophy at the recent Golden Screen awards, also took home the Best Supporting Actress award.
Other entries also won in the Urian such as “Amok” for Best Editing and Best Sound, “Kitchen Musical” actor Art Acuna for “Nino,” “Sirip” for Best Short Film, “Tundong Magiliw” for Best Documentary and “The Natural Phenomenon of Madness” for Best Production Design.
