Philippine football team Azkals succeed during their friendly game against Guam which took place this Independence Day tonight at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
The home team scored 3 goals leaving no opportunity for Guam to win the match.
Since the early game, the Azkals showed their aggressiveness after Angel Guirado scored during the first seven minutes of the game. After four more minutes, Carl De Murga scored for his team’s second goal with the assist of James Younghusband who served as the team captain in tonight’s match.
Guirado made a goal throughout the 46th minute before the end of the first half. From Dennis Caraga’s free kick, Guirado improved the Azkals 3rd goal by a rapid header.
During the second half, the Philippine team attempted to score another goal by their aggressive offence; however, Guam maintained their indestructible defense throughout the game.
The Panaad Stadium went loud as the people cheered because of an action packed game as the home team dominated the match.
The Azkals, who is currently on 149 in the rankings, have their 5th win in the Panaad Stadium during their six games in the said venue.
Players Dennis Wolf, Misagh Bahadoran and Rob Gier were given a Yellow Card during the first half after a head collision in one of the Guam team’s player.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Azkals co-captain Chieffy Caligdong and player Manny Ott did not play during the match due to they were given a Red Card in their last match in Indonesia.
The friendly game was FIFA-sanctioned wherein it can help the Azkals to make their football world ranking higher.
