Filipino-American BMX rider Danny Caluag failed to make it to the semi-final round in the London Olympic Games.
In the overall five races in the quarterfinals, Caluag finished with the time of 40.354 and 40.380, giving him a final score of 29 points.
Caluag was the last hope of the Philippine team to succeed in the London Olympics. With the weak finish of Caluag, none of the 11 Filipino athletes were able to bring home a medal.
The Philippines last got a medal from boxer Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco who won silver during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He defeated by Bulgaria’s Daniel Petrov in the score of 6-19.
Filipino athletes who joined the London Olympic Games include swimmers Jasmine Alkhaldi and Jessie King Lacuna, skeet shooter Paul Brian Rosario, boxer Mark Anthony Barriga, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, long jumper Marestella Torres, long distance runner Rene Herrera, judoka Tomohiko Hoshina and archers Mark Javier and Rachel Cabral.
